7 Chakra Meditations to Keep You in Balance

Updated April 2026

The seven chakras work best together when each one gets its own attention. Here are seven short meditations — one per chakra — designed to be used individually or as a sequence. Each takes about five to eight minutes.

Anchor the practice with scent.

Apply a chakra-aligned body oil before meditating — aroma creates a sensory anchor that deepens the practice and helps your nervous system return to the state again later.

1. Root — Grounding breath

Sit with feet flat on the floor. Close your eyes. Visualize roots extending from the base of your spine into the earth. Breathe into the base of your pelvis. On each exhale, feel the roots deepen. Hold for 5–8 minutes.

Pair with: Kanya's I Am Grounded blend.

2. Sacral — Water meditation

Place hands just below the navel. Visualize warm orange light there, moving with the ease of flowing water. Let creative energy rise without forcing. If emotions arrive, let them pass through like current. 5–8 minutes.

Pair with: I Am Passionate.

3. Solar Plexus — Inner fire

Hands rest on the upper abdomen. Visualize a warm yellow sun there. On each inhale, the light brightens. On each exhale, it expands outward through your body. Repeat silently: I am capable. I am worthy. I am enough.

Pair with: I Am Confident.

4. Heart — The breath of compassion

Hands over the heart. Inhale for four counts; exhale for six. Longer exhales activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is exactly what the heart chakra needs. After a few minutes, silently repeat: I am loved. I am loving. I am love.

Pair with: I Am Joyful.

5. Throat — Sound meditation

Sit tall. Close your eyes. Inhale deeply. On the exhale, chant the mantra YAM aloud (the traditional throat-chakra bija mantra). Feel the vibration in your throat and chest. Repeat 12 times.

Pair with: I Am Open.

6. Third Eye — Inner vision

Close your eyes. Focus attention on the space between your eyebrows without straining. Let images arise without trying to direct them. If the mind wanders, return to the point between the eyebrows. 5–8 minutes.

Pair with: I Am Peace (Kanya combines third eye and crown).

7. Crown — Silent sitting

No visualization. No mantra. Sit with eyes closed. Rest attention at the top of the head. When thoughts arrive, let them pass without engagement. This is the practice that looks like doing nothing but is actually the hardest one. Start with 3 minutes and build up.

Pair with: I Am Peace.

How to use scent with meditation

Apply the corresponding Kanya blend to pulse points or the chakra's physical location before beginning. Aroma reaches the limbic system faster than almost any other sensory input — which means the scent sets the emotional tone before your thoughts catch up. Over time, the association deepens; the scent alone becomes enough to start returning you to the state.

Every Kanya formulation is layered like fine fragrance, with top, heart, and base notes that evolve over the length of a practice. It's the same intentional aromatherapy trusted by Miraval, Equinox Hotels & Clubs, Four Seasons, and Fairmont.
