Essential Oils That Support Women's Health
Updated April 2026
Essential oils have been used for centuries to support women's health — particularly the hormonal, emotional, and reproductive cycles that modern medicine sometimes treats as inconveniences rather than features. What follows is what the research actually supports, organized by life stage.
Support your cycle.
Kanya's Sacral Chakra blend (Cypriol, Cedarwood, Geranium, Bergamot, Ylang-Ylang) is often reached for during hormonal shifts — it calms emotional turbulence and supports sensual balance.

Ylang-Ylang, Geranium, and Clary Sage are the most studied essential oils for hormonal support. Ylang-Ylang reduces heart rate and has been used in traditional aromatherapy for hormonal regulation. Geranium eases anxiety and depression often tied to cycle shifts. Clary Sage (not in Kanya's chakra blends, but commonly used) has been shown to reduce cortisol in a 2013 study of menopausal women.
Kanya's Sacral Chakra blend combines Cypriol, Cedarwood, Geranium, Bergamot, and Ylang-Ylang — chosen specifically for hormonal and emotional balance.
For PMS and cramps
Clary Sage, Lavender, and Rose Otto are traditional remedies. Lavender specifically has clinical evidence for reducing menstrual pain when inhaled or applied abdominally (diluted in carrier oil). The mechanism: lavender appears to reduce both muscle tension and the perception of pain.
For pregnancy and postpartum
This is an area to approach with care. Many essential oils are contraindicated during pregnancy — particularly in the first trimester. But a global review in the Journal of Nursing Research found aromatherapy helped postpartum women across multiple measures: anxiety, depression, fatigue, mood, pain recovery, and sleep quality. No side effects reported.
If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your provider before using any essential oil blend.
For stress and emotional support
The heart and crown chakra blends are particularly helpful here. Kanya's Heart Chakra formulation (Bergamot, Geranium, Peppermint, Lavender, Ylang-Ylang) softens anxiety and lifts mood. The Crown & Third Eye formulation (Frankincense, Holy Basil, Lavender, Myrrh) supports deeper calm and better sleep.
Both are formulated like fine fragrance, with top, heart, and base notes that evolve over hours — the same intentional aromatherapy trusted by Miraval, Equinox Hotels & Clubs, Four Seasons, and Fairmont.
How to use them
The simplest application is inhalation — diffuse during work, meditation, or before bed. For topical use, dilute a few drops in a carrier oil or use a pre-diluted body oil (which is what Kanya's body oils are). Apply to pulse points or the chakra's physical location.
Start with one blend, used consistently. The compound effect of daily use over weeks matters more than variety.
