Vernika Shukla grew up in India surrounded by the quiet rhythms of ancient wellness. Her family practiced Yoga as a way of life, not a trend. Her mother, a Reiki Master, taught her to read the body's energy before she could read a textbook. Fragrance, breathwork, and intentional touch were not hobbies in their household. They were how the family healed.

Vernika trained as a Pranic Healer, deepening her understanding of how scent, energy, and intention move through the body. She carried this knowledge with her when she came to the United States, always formulating small batches for friends and family who wanted something purer, more intentional, more alive than what they found on shelves.

A Mother's Turning Point

Everything changed when Vernika's three-year-old son developed severe eczema. The doctors prescribed steroids. She refused. Instead, she went back to what she knew: cold-pressed carrier oils, therapeutic-grade essential oils, and formulations built around specific emotional and physical intentions. She blended by hand. She tested on herself first. She watched her son's skin transform.

That kitchen became a laboratory. Those first blends became the foundation of Kanya Life.

From Kitchen to the World's Finest Spas

Word traveled. A wellness director at Miraval experienced the blends and asked Vernika to create a bespoke formulation for their turndown amenities. Then came Equinox Hotels and Clubs, where she developed the signature aromatherapy for their Sleep Program. Four Seasons followed. Then Fairmont. Each property received its own custom formulation, crafted by Vernika personally after reading the energy and intention of the space.
